Hi

I have a XFX Black GTX 260

I'm going to overclock it soon, but was just wondering what fan speed to run?

Do most people overclock and play at 100% fan speed?

Generally no need to change fan speed... the only thing I would say tho, left 4 dead seems to have problems with (some) overclocked 200 series cards when they get warmer so you might need 100% fan in that, everything else should be fine on auto (40%).

cheers for the info,

I though that artifacts were caused by the card getting too hot, so increase fan speed would allow for a higher oc.

I sometimes have issues with my 260 @ 675/2300 with DoW2.. seems it's due to overheating but not 100% sure, might be a patch issue.. but since increasing fan speed to 100% it's happened less though I do seem to have a ringing in my ear ;)

690 / 1477 / 1202 75%
GTX 260 Palit no problems in games , if i raise the core or the shaders anymore than that and it doesn't like it

Artifacts can also be caused when the GPU isn't receiving enough voltage to perform its function at the increased clocks.

As for clocks, my Gainward 260 runs at 675/2400 everyday but I've had the core up to 730mhz (unlinked.)
