GTX 280 3dmark06

just ran 3dmark 06 and came out with a score of 16732 just wondering if any 1 else has a similar system to mine i can compare it to... spec is in sig!

makes me wonder why i didnt just buy the GTX 260 and save my self some monies!

I'm pretty sure futuremark has a database online with 10000's of systems compared..

Don't use 3dmark 06 to compare the latest graphics cards, its very CPU limited.

The GTX 280 is far better than the GTX260, your money is well spent if your looking for top frame rates on maxed out settings.

Try 3D Mark Vantage or use games to compare the performance differences

got a free copy of vantage on its way from bfg, i'll do a few tests when it arrives wont be any time soon tho, my cod4(online) fps doesnt seem to have increased over my last 8800gts which i'm dissapointed about ! i've left all settings on default .

Thats a bit wierd, although ATI have better results with COD4. Shoulda went with them

Nah I am quite surprised about you not noticing much of a performance increase over an 8800GTS.

Looking at the database Blackbadger posted, seems OK to me

ha not likely mate i've had enough of ATI driver problems to last me a lifetime, not to mention 2 of my 9800pro's went bang! no thanks!!

all benchmark results i have compared to seem to be spot on, might try a new install of vista to see if hat makes any difference normally i'd reinstall as soon as i change any hardware just being lazy really.

I would have expected you to get a much much higher score then that with a 280 gtx

I have two GTX 280 in SLI and only get about 18k, the benchmark is useless now its all about CPU speed.

Yep dont bother with 06, my 4850 got around the same score as my old 8800 GT in that, yet gamings much better, and thats where it counts.

Which resolution are you using? Your probably CPU limited.

Also what are you FPS off line? It could be your internet connection slowing you down.

i'm using 1440x900 and i have 20mb virgin media connection and its spot on so that wont be the cause of it, going to reinstall os at some point in the next week which is likely to be the cause of the problem

for what its worth i have same kit as you nearly with a worse processor but 400mhz behind you and i got 12k 3dmarks with a 260.

3Dmark is garbage as it doesn't reflect real-world performance for the vast majority of games, which is kind of the point really.
