now and again my computer seems to lose signal with the monitor.

what do u think the problem is.

my first port of call is the psu. im currently using some cheap 600w carp for the time being but acros the 3 rails im using im getting enough amps.

do u thinks its this or are there other problems with the 280s?

i had not considered this. its a new monitor so i assumed it would not be. however i have noticed there is a very quiet buzzing noise coming from the monitor.

do u think it could be faulty?

TBH mate the first thing to do is to stop using the cheap PSU and buy yourself something decent. You will regret it if the other one goes and takes out a few other components in the process.

Cards nowerdays do normally give audible or screen warnings when power cables arnt providing enough power to run them properly however so it may not be whats causing your issues.

As webbo suggested have you tried different cables, monitor inputs and monitors?

Could be an issue. First off ensure the cables are all screwed in securely. If you are still having issues then try using a different monitor to eliminate that possibility.

im getting a new psu at the end of the month. care to recommend any as i was gonna get a enermax but ocuk have stopped doing them.

the problem is the problem only presents itself now and agin. its very hard to reproduce.

could it be the dvi port on the gpu?

I had a similar issue with a Dell WFP 3008 monitor, the signal would go and I couldn't restore it. After testing various components in my rig, I isolated the problem to be the monitor. I called Dell and had a replacement sent, that fixed the issue. Are you able to connect your computer to a different monitor to see if that works? Would help rule out a faulty rig / graphics card then.
