GTX 280 first impressions

I'm sorry but this has annoyed me a little, it's not that OcUK is over priced, it's just they don't have the budget cards for sale, i.e POV, Inno3D, Zotac etc, you can't compare the price of a POV card against the price of a BFG/EVGA card for example, not only are they different company's but BFG/EVGA offer you 10 years warranty and a better RMA process, try and buy a BFG, EVGA, ASUS card for £399.99 from another retailer, you cant do it, OcUK have just decided to stock the premium GTX 280's that's all, your not forced into buying them.

Who keeps a card for 10 years?

If it goes bad you send it to the retailer, not the manufacturer in the first 12 months.

Who keeps a card longer than 12 months?

So all your above points are pointless.

Fundamentally they are all the same bar warranty and bundle.

So yes, I agree, overpriced.

IMO of course, you don't have to agree with it and I couldn't care less is you didn't.

:)

The default 06 result will be interesting yeah, but what default res do you game in / will be testing in? Or are you going the whole hog and run multiple res's? Not that I'm asking you to do so, just curious.

Hardly...

People kept their 8800GTX well over 12 months. PLease keep on topic anyway.

Posting from laptop, 3dmark running now.

I normally game at 1920x1200. I prepared a few benchmarks on my 8800GTX before hand so we will have some direct comparisons soon!

Including head to head very high DX10 crysis :p

:) I found it for £399.99 inc shipping from another well known etailer as you mentioned in another thread, it's pretty shocking how OcUK are so over-priced.

So tempted.. Could prob get 200-250 for my ultra on "well known auction site" I reckon...

Hmmm... :P

easily, i just got £170 for 8800 gtx.

The point he was making that you skillfully missed was that BFG/EVGA are pretty much the same price no matter what the retailer... the only reason OCUK don't have anyc heaper cards is they currently don't stock the cheaper brands.

I keep some cards longer than 12 months. Especially if your buying a top-end card that you want to last a while. So therefore, apart from some peeps, his argument isn't pointless.

OCUK certainly aren't the cheapest, but they (in general) have a better rep than other etailers.

ANYWAY... LETS get the results :D

Matthew
p.s. Low Rider, comment out the prices and suggestions of other places to buy in the quote else you may be caught up in it as well :(

I didn't miss any point, they are STILL over priced compared to others.

Its you that's missing the point :p

Nobody, but it's help keeps the resale value up, BFG cards allays get a good price second hand because of the extended warranty, you may make use of the first year or two of that warranty, then the person you sell it to may make use of the second/third year of that warranty and so on and so forth.

If it goes bad you send it to the retailer, not the manufacturer in the first 12 months.

I've never sent a GPU back to the retailer in the first year, I always prefer dealing with the manufacturer direct.

Who keeps a card longer than 12 months?

pretty much all the 8800GTX users on this forum ;)

So all your above points are pointless.

lol

So fundamentally that is the resaon why they are more expensive lol.

Seriously stop clogging up this thread with price and warranty stuff all we want to see is results, go discuss it in another thread!
Yeah its not the nicest but it looks like all the others when in the case :p

unless you're using some upsidedown motherboard configuration with a window :P or no case at all lol!
