GTX 280 PSU recommendation

Ok i've been running my new 280 on a hiper m580w psu for a few days now since it arrived from ocuk. While all seems well with no power issues other than a very very occasional whine (which i hear is fairly common anyway), im concerned that the psu's days may be numbered due to it only supplying 38A on the 12v rail rather than the recommened 40A. While i'm only running one card, 1 hard drive, 1 dvd-rw and a couple of fans, I'd rather look at replacing it now than have it possibly take my new 280 with it at some point in the near future.

So with that said, I guess I'm asking firstly if i really need to be doing this given it is only a 2A shortfall and secondly, can I please have some recommendations for a replacement PSU for as far under £100 as possible that will suit my needs. While I am on a fairly tight budget after forking out for the 280 this month it would be good to get a psu that was modular as well as high quality for under the 100 mark as I'm not a fan of a messy case. Oh, and if it had an 8 pin connector for the 280 so i didnt have to faff about with converters that would be a bonus!

Any help or suggestions are well appreciated:)

I really would not bother if it's only 2A and everything works fine. I dont think you have anything to worry about.

But if you do get a new PSU then get atleast a 800w one, so it's a worthwhile upgrade and will atleast last a long time.

The high pitched whine is most likely the capacitors on your 280, not the psu.

Brother has a very whiney 280 running on a corsair 520w no problems along with a few fans and a higher end core2duo.

There is a cause for clums concern with the 280 580 hiper combo, I'm running the same cept powering 2 sata2 hdd hiper, which ran fine for a couple of months, then started getting mysterious crashes, monitor would power off and the led on the 280 would switch to red thing is the hiper is running 100% critical with that 2 amp shortfall on the 12 volt rail and switching back to an old 7900 gto was the only way to get the system back up,till I can get a suitable replacement.
fancy the bfg LS-680 maybe.

If the rails are suffering like that then yeah, maybe the supply was a little duff and not cut out for max load? Old maybe? The older designs were not as good.
