Currently have a BFG 8800 GTS in my Thermalright Armor case,

Are the GTX 280's any bigger??? The GTS only just fits with all the hard-drives ive installed. Probably got 1/2 inch to spare.

Installed CS4 and it really wants more Ram on the GPU to work better.

The rest of the system has 4GB ram, Intel Quad 3.0Ghz CPU with
3TB of HD for storing images.

No piont in having two GPU's with CS4, they only work on the primary
GPU, so no point in adding another 8800 to match :o(

Not built a PC for a year now, so "out of touch" with it all, so throw me some bones Guru's

Might have to have a Hard drive move around?? LOL

Are there any "good" or "bad" versions? Best manufacturer?

Ive usually kept with BFG or Asus in the past

I went 8800GTS -> 8800Ultra -> GTX280

The Ultra is bigger than the GTS but I could still fit it in. The GTX280 required moving hard drives which were find with the Ultra.

This sucker is HUGE! :)

Yep they are much bigger. I went from a BFG GTS320 to a GTX280 and had to remove one of the hd cages to get it to fit in my Chieftec Dragon (well... it might have just about fit if there were no drives in the cage!)

On the plus side the power cable management is a bit better in that it comes out the side of the card rather than the end.
