Ok here it goes, i want to upgrade from my 8600GTS 256mb OC LOL

I want to get a BFG GeForce GTX 280 and as there are some deals with OC i want it NOW :P.

I want to know if my system will bootleneck the card as its for PCI E 2.0 and i got a Mobo which only supports PCIE 1 but i heard the 280 is backwards compatible?

Here are my Specs:

Asus Striker Extreme
Pentium E6850 3Ghz
4GB RAM (AData :|)
2 x Raptor 74gb Raid 0
1 x Seagate baracuda 300gb
Geforce 8600 GTS OC 256 MB

what would be the besty 260/280 to get for me? Price range £300 but i would preffer to spend LESS

Shudnt have though that system will bottleneck. What res you running at? The 280s are £260 on OCuk this week if thats what you want, but the 4870 is prob better bang for buck

oh right, sorry read your answer wrong, the only think i am worried about is the PCI-E 2.0

but i do want to upgrade most of my system at the end of the year anyway, just want better graphics for the GAMES now :)

so should i deffently go for it?

I did a test with my 4870 in a v1.0a mobo and then a v2.0 mobo - all other components exactly the same - same fsb/clock - less than 4% difference in benchmarks.
