Hi Guys,

I think I've killed my 280gtx by putting on a new cooler, the damn thing wont boot now with any of the coolers on.

So looking for a new fairly decent graphics card.

Ive seen a Zotac 260 gtx for £110, but can anyone recomend me a quite, cool but powerful ish graphic card for simalar price.

Hopefully i wont kill this one cos i wont be putting any sort of new cooler on.

Steve

What exactly did you do to the GPU to break it? Are you 100% sure its broken? Because there is no point going out buying a new GPU when the old one could just have a simple problem.. ;)

And about the card, the Zotac GTX 260 core 216 55nm is one of the best GTX 260's out there, about about noise, just turn the fan speed down, as long as you have a well ventilated case all will be fine :)

Hi guys,

thanks for the response, well i cant get the 280 to boot, tried changing the coolers twice.

I cant see any damage to the card. All i get is an error beep from the motherboard which indicates a graphics failure.

Ive checked the motherboard and the power supply. Does anyone have any options as to what to do, cant really RMA it, cos its obvious i took it to pieces

House insurance....well i was having a bath when I thought...i know I would like to play a computer game so you got your computer...splash...

Take a picture so we can see if its really obvious.

Sell it as faulty - I got £100 for my borked 280. People snap them up because they are sometimes easy to fix if you have the time and inclination.

I think flogging it might be the best idea, im going to strip it down again when i get some more thermal pads and I will post some pics then, cheers guys
