GTX 285 power consumption

Hi,
On the BFG website they only show the power needed for a big i7 rig. With the spec in my sig is the PSU gonna provide enough power for a GTX 285 1Gb card?

It appears to for Windows to boot but I'm getting occasional flashing glitches in games.
It also has the latest driver which I wasn't using with the 8800GT.

I hope it does cos I want an excuse to keep the card (only borrowing it at the moment to see if my rig will run it).

Depending on what you read the minimum recommended psu is 550 to 600 W

I've got a 700 in mine but when I got the 285 initially I ran it on a 460W psu for a day without apparently any problems. Manage to benchmark it as well

It's right on the edge though and when you start over clocking and adding in loads of hard drives and usb stuff it can push it over the edge.

Have you tried running futurmark3D on it and fur mark to see if it's stable.

Well it wasn't glitching in AvP but in BC2 so it might be game specific. I think I'll keep and do the PSU when I change the case.

Ta for the input guys.

My GTX280 OC2 likes at least a minimum of 11.80v on the 12v rail(s) under load, anything less and certain games will start to cause problems. So i purchased HX750 for much cleaner 12v power regulation, and no more problems.

Hmm tried the drivers from March and it still flashes odd colours, for example gun fire in BC2 has a slight purple tinge and bits of scenery flash intermittently.
does this sound like a card without enough power or a dodgy card?

Hmm. sounds a bit dodgy.

Is there anyone you know with another PC you could try it in, if they have a beefy PSU

Just the person I'm borrowing it off, he had two in sli which were creating issues as far as I know so he had them replaced but the old ones weren't picked up. Therefore had them going spare.
So I'm trying one out with a view to buying it, as you can understand i don't want to be buying a pup. If i think its power issues i'm happy to pay for it cos a PSU is next on the list to upgrade.

I've got a video clip of it glitching if it would help?
also would it be worth removing the o/c on the cpu?

Would be interesting to see what's happening..

When you're troubleshooting you should always reset back to non o/c values to see if that removes the problem and if it does, slowly build the o/c back up to when you can see the problem recurring.

Core 678MHz, shader 1547MHz and mem 1296MHz.
Once I've played for a bit I'll let you know temps.
edit: a blast on bc2 show it's max to be 68 degrees c.

That's not bad going

Mine is at 707 / 1605 / 1355 which is pretty much about all that I can get from it.

It's a BFG OC version that is factory clocked to 666 / 1512 / 1242

The card is watercooled and idles at 40 degrees and load temps are low to mid 50s
