GTX 285 prices???

Hi All

Any ideas on how much the GTX285 will cost at launch.
I was thinking about the 280 but with these just around the corner I think I'll wait.

It's a GTX280 on a 55nm fab with increased clocks, same as the new GTX260 but that happened without a name change.

The GTX 285 is built on the 55nm process, is clocked higher, and uses less power.
GTX 280 = 236 watts
GTX 285 = 183 watts

Apparently they are on sale in Hong Kong already, at the equivalent of 300 Euros, or 267.75 GBP.
It will probably be more like £300-350 in the U.K however.

£300+ i rekon, and they also rekon that they clock exactly the same as the 280's, would require a new designed board to clock better, so if thats true, then you may as well buy a 280 and clock it, as they'll be around £100 cheaper.

You say that, but the 55nm GTX 260's that have started to appear on the market are using exactly the same amount of power as the older 65nm models, and in some benchmarks are using more!

Seems odd but true. It remains to be seen if the GTX 285's will be the same. Really the cores need the a 40/45nm shrink.

Im currently holding out to see what the 285gtx is like price wise, if its much more than £300.00 i think i may give it a miss and opt for a gtx280.

will it be possible to SLI one of these with a GTX280? it would be cheaper for me than GTX 295 and not to mention faster. :cool:

saying its not worth it is not true, depends on your setup and price of 285

were some amazing prices recently for the 280, new toys always have a premium if your gonna pay it go for it and enjoy. Sure you have read all the info and know all it entails.

I have a leadtek gtx280 would it be possible, say in August get another gtx280 anybrand? to pair with mine, its to add with I7 cpu , motherboard etc ..
