GTX 295 plus another card for dedicated physics??

I have heard that this can be done i.e. a GTX 295 + another card which would be dedicated for physics? Or is this "other card" option only available if you SLi 2 GTX 295's?
 
I think it can be done, but it's pointless.

There isn't a single application that needs or even shows a decent performance increase from a dedicated PhysX card.
