GTX 295 Thermal Paste Re-Application Help

Hey guys,

My good old GTX 295 was running hot the other day so i had the genius idea od re-applying the thermal paste since its never been done.

I took one side off, wipe off the old paste on the processor put some new stuff on put it all back together and now it don't work.

I plug it into my motherboard, a little green light comes on the card when i turn it on but nothing happens on the screens and my motherboard beeps a few times.

Now there is some quite thick thermal stuff with some kinda cloth in it in a L shape around the processor and some of it ripped when i took it apart, i put some normal paste in the gaps and its still the same.

any ideas ?

I've made sure the little plug things are back in proper place aswell but its still the same

i'll have to get some pics later when i'm home

That l shape 'cloth'was probably cooling the vrms now you have put thermal paste on it......I would suggest removing the paste and try repairing the cooling pad.

EDIT: I also read this as a Radeon 295X lol

thanks i'll try that later.

There is some excess sp i'll cut it off and use it to cover the gaps and hope that sorts it.
