GTX 295

no idea on tech specs, but will give the 4870x2 some competition i suspect, think will be determined by price point in the end.

Hopefully they'll hurry up with releasing this.

If it offers the performance jump the 7950GX2 and 9800GX2 both gave then it'll probably be my next card. :)

why are you excited. I waited and gota 4870x2, or more like, i got a 4870x2 because when I wanted to upgrade they were out and a cheaper way to get 2x 1gb versions of the 4870 and less hassel than crossfire.

If you're nvidia, chances are you have a sli mobo already, just grab 2x 260gtx 216's, you'll find cooling easier and probably have it cheaper too. Should find that due to heat and power that it will be a publicity card with low stocks and a stupid price premium to go with it, so better off with 2 260gtx's any which way you look at it.

Who reckons pricing of £450+?!

Personally if folding I would rather have two GTX60 cards simply because of the heat produced. Also I didn't realise this but a GTX260 is actually (physically) larger than a HD4870X2. I know this as fitting it (HD4870X2) into my Antex NSK4480 gives me 3mm of spare room whereas the GTX260 only gave me 1mm :p

i don't understand the logic, you get 4870x2 coz cant be hasstled by crossfire - I can relate I have a 4870x2, plus i can alwasy add a second if i wish :)

but then you contradict yourself when it comes to SLI

anyway I am not excited, just curious. It could give the 4870x2 a run for the money, it will depend on price/performance - but today that is speculation since we don't have much info to make that call. Also don't know what the heat generated with these new cards is going to be, but with 55nm it could be less than you expect

wait and see

PS i doubt i would get one anyway as it would have to literally blow the doors off the 4870x2. in the end who really knows?

I think the easiest way we can tell at the moment is by guaging the HD4870X2 performance VS 2 4870 1gb in CF (ie they perform about the same assuming everything else is the same).

I think it will be safe to say that the GTX275 or whatever the heck they will call it will perform similar to 2 GTX260 in SLI. I may even go as far as to say like the 9800GX2 they may have to be clocked slightly slower (9800GX2 was clocked slower than the GTS 512) simply due to the heat output and thus may end up being slightly slower overall.

I'm not getting excited since it's probably going to be a long way off. There were rumours that GTX270/290 cards were coming out months ago and there is still no sign.
If they still haven't managed to get any of these rumoured GTX270/290 cards in the shops yet then I don't see this card coming out anytime soon.

As loadsa says the 290GTX is out and about already, just dressed as a Quadro 5800.

It's hard to get excited over dual gpu cards, i'm sure it will benchmark and fold really well, I'm sure it will even run a few games allot better then a single GPU, but it's dual gpu so I don't really care.
