GTX 295's All Dual GPU??

Are all GTX 295 cards Dual GPU, or did they release single GPU cards under the GTX295 banner? Also whats each GPU equivalent to on their own, GTS250, GTX260, GTX285??? etc?

Yes, they are all dual GPU. All of the 295s come with two GT200b chips running together in an internal SLI.

You may have heard of a single PCB version - this does exist (I have one). However, it still uses two chips - it just runs them next to each other on a single PCB (compared to two PCBs sandwiched together in the first version). The benefit of this is that is generally a bit cooler and quieter, but crucially it is cheaper to produce and usually cheaper to buy.

Each GPU on its own is roughly equivalent to the performance of a GTX 260 216core (it is a touch faster), but in terms of architecture each chip is really a GTX 275 which has been downclocked.

I think the confusion came in because of the single and dual pcb versions of the cards. The single pcb has 2 chips on 1 board and the dual was 2 boards with 1 chip on each board sandwiched together.

Its a 200 series core with 240SP like the GTX275/285 but only running core/shader clock at 576/1242 which is the reference clocks of the GTX260, but due to the extra SPs its slightly faster than the GTX260 clock for clock, it also only had 896MB per core as the GTX275 and GTX260.

There are a couple of models (one being the Asus Mars) that are 240SP at 285 clocks and 1024MB per core - but they are very hard if not impossible to get hold of.
