I grabbed a 460 last week and it's been a great lift from the old 5570, except for one pretty major problem. It's fine on my main 22" LG monitor but it has issues with my main TV, which I use for playing tv/films and the odd game.
I have a crappy 4 year old 32" Digihome LCD which is my main TV and the 460 doesn't handle it as well as the 5570. It overscans about 10% or so on all sides. I can't correct this on the TV as for some reason I can't access the last entry in the menu (which looks like a monitor and I assume that's maybe where I could correct it).
I can fix it by using the 'desktop resizing' feature (taking it to 1202x767), but this impacts the picture quality slightly. Apart from that, it doesn't seem to have any effect on windows dragged onto it. Example, start a game in 1280x720 windowed and try to drag it over and it won't fit because the overscan remains. This is a bit puzzling as sending over Media Player Classic in full screen mode it fits as it should.
I've tried all the scaling/resizing options but the only way it doesn't overscan is if I set the TV to 1080i and disable scaling, then set that to 720p. This results in a 1280x720 image set into the center of the full 1920x1080 picture, which is obviously unusable, but it doesn't overscan. Setting the scaling to 1920x1080 to match the full resolution just brings the overscan back into play.
What are my options here? I can't return the card as it works fine, just not with my equipment. If I put the 5570 back in then all is well but then I've got an orphaned 460.
Thanks for reading, if you made it this far.
