I have a Dell 24" monitor running at 1920 x 1200, 32 bit, 60hz and a new Dell 27" running at 2048 x 1152, 32bit, 60hz. They are connected via DVI-D duel link cables to my EVGA GTX470 card.

The 24" monitor picture is perfect but the 27" is not that great, the desktop icons are a bit grainy, text is not great either.

Is my graphics card not up to running both monitors properly? I would like to run the 27" at its native 2560 x 1440.

Would another GTX470 to run in SLI mode be better and cheaper than buying another graphics card? :)

I take it you can't select anything higher than 2048x1152?

Have you installed the driver for the 27" Dell so that Windows "knows" what resolution it's capable of?

Maximum resolution for the 470 on dual link DVI is 2560x1600, although apparantly it can also get restricted by the copper quality of the cable. Are you using the dual link cable that came with the monitor? Tried the 27" on it's own?

Hi,
tried the monitor on its native resolution and I could hardly read any text, it was giving me a headache. The driver was installed. I am using an IXOS Duel link cable. I will check other settings in the morning and let you both know how I get on.

I have tried disconecting the 24" monitor but there was no difference to the 27". I have changed to the native resolution and I still can't read any text. The desktop background picture is clear and sharp.

Just tried playing around with Icon size, font size etc. Unfortunatly to be able to read titles under icons or menues I had to icrease the icon size to 145dpi and font to 22dpi which had a knock on effect. I must be doing somthing wrong in the setup, I assumed it was just plug and play with the monitor?

Orcvader,

you were spot on when you asked me if I had tried the DVI cable that came with the monitor. This was the only thing I never tried. The text on the monitor is now perfect :) , I wrongly assumed that using an 'IXOS' brand high quality cable would have made no difference?

Thanks to everybody for trying to help. :):)
