GTX 470 SLI and Anaglyphic 3D Performance

Hey, I was just wondering what performance I should expect through nVidia's 3D Discover. Does anyone here use this for 3D in their games? I am definitely purchasing a 3D television soon and wanted to talk with current users about 3D.

If my tv is, for example, 120hz, all my games will lock to that with v-sync right? (If there's enough grunt!) But when I enable 3D will that frequency be halved?

Thanks in advance for any replies and info on anaglyphic 3D.

Note: my current display is a 60hz 42" LG LCD TV. I am running 314.22 driver and using nVidia anaglyph setting now.

I am planning to purchase a passive 3D TV but wanted to check here first!

Why would you be running anaglyph 3D with a 120HZ screen, or even a passive 3D screen?

I can only assume, but you'd be getting pretty similar performance to what you do now if you ran frame sequential.

Ah yes, thanks for reply but I thought I was clear:

I don't currently own a 3D TV, I am using a 42" LG 60Hz LCD and anaglyph through GTX 470 SLI.

I am wanting to talk with others who have used anaglyph who could help me with poor performance rates while it is enabled.

I asked about 120/240Hz TVs as I plan to purchase one in the near future and don't know what reaction my PC will have on it as a passive 3D gaming system.

Thanks for reply though. ;)

I'm confused why you're mentioning anaglyph, I know you're using that now as you have no other option.
But you wouldn't be running it with a 120HZ screen, you'd be running active (Full colour frame sequential) or passive, again full colour.

I ran anaglyph when I used a 680 (Until I got 120HZ monitor and then had to get an AMD 7970 as Nvidia don't give generic panel support)

Your 3D performance would be pretty identical to what you get now.

Hardly anything is worth bothering with given you are pretty much playing in black and white.

However, LIMBO is definitely worth a go, given it's black and white any way and it really adds to the experience.

Don't even bother with 3D games like Dirt as within half an hour it'll give you a headache.

OK, the colour depth was really putting me off.

Could I play 3D enabled games using the TV hardware alone, or would I still require nVidia 3D Vision to achieve the desired effect?

I thought it's better to ask before spending £900 plus!

Really? Is it worth it then? I know I would like to have access to the technology - just didn't think it was this hard to access. I thought the 3D image could be presented on any 3D display capable of running 120hz or more!? I know that the LG displays can adapt a 2D image into 3D, but has this got something to do with the game itself and it's requirement to be rendered twice?

Thanks for clearing nVidia's 3D Vision up, I didn't know that and it's probably a good job you told me before I went and purchased a useless 3D display! Thanks!

•Ensure sure you are using a 3D TV resolution. For example: 1080p24, 720p60, or 720p50

This straight from nVidia's 3DTV Play section. So, I'll only get 24fps @ 1080p? Can somebody who actually runs nVidia 3D Vision please clear these things up for me?

I don't know where to start! It seems that you have to pay for nVidia 3DTV Play software and it isn't guaranteed to function as intended because I can't find the list of supported TV sets, only the list of supported GPUs! Aaargh! I bet if I plug it in the thing will work immediately but it's not worth the risk, eh?

Any nVidia 3D users here?
