Am running 2 x MSI GTX 470's in SLI - just on air with the usual top card hotter due to being blocked.

Stock Benchmarks (607 core 1215 Shader 1674 Mem @ 987mv)

3D Mark Vantage :
Total : 30945
GPU : 26687
CPU : 59352

OC : (750 core 1500 Shader 1850 Mem @ 1050mv)

3D Mark Vantage :
Total : 35366
GPU : 30941
CPU : 61949

Temps with OC : GPU1 peaked at 88*c | GPU2 peaked at 74* (after tweaking fan profile some more)

Heaven Benchmark @ Stock (1920x1080 , 4xAA, 4xAF, Tess - Normal)

HeavenStock-1.jpg

Temps 79-80* on GPU1

Heaven Benchmark @ OC (1920x1080 , 4xAA, 4xAF, Tess - Normal)

HeavenOC2.jpg

Temps 85-87* on GPU1

Running Kombustor was too much though, quit out when top card hit 97* >.<

Though 20mins of playing World of Tanks @ 5760 x 1080 and top card only peaked at 82* which I thing is acceptable.

I would like a better cooling solution (have 2 internal case fans blowing on them already) but dont think I can stretch to GPU water cooling, but may look at 3rd party air cooling solutions when they are released.

Have you got side-panel fans working on them?

I don't know if the EVGA high flow brackets and backplates fit on any 470, but they might be worth a look too.

Unfortunately I cant fit a side fan on, using the Noctua DH-14 in an Antec 1200 case, and the cooler just blocks the side fan being able to fit.

Hi m8, what VGA Bios Version are your MSI GTX 470'S using, my MSI 470 is using VGA Bios Version:70.00.21.00.03[latest version] my stock Vcore
is > 950mv, OC'd at 700/1400/ 1680, temp's playing BC2 60 > 62'C fan at 30%, room temp 22'c. Might pay you to flash your's to this version if your's are using
an old version > 70.00.1A.00.03.

Use MSI Live Update to check, if you are using the old version, l'm not sure but l think it update's your VGA Bios for you.

Did you just have one 470 in your system before you got the second,
If so what was the temp of the card on it's own before you added the second card.
What to know how much it pushes the temp of the first card up by.

OLDPHART and Freakbro, can I ask you both what the fan noise is like on the MSI's? I'm considering purchasing a pair.

Bios versions are 70.00.21.00.03 on both.

The temp difference between the 2 cards are ~ 8 or 9* idle and 12-15* under load. Its the 2nd card blocking the fan of the top one that causes it.

The fans at idle (40%) are very quiet. Up to even say 60-70% they are fine...when they hit 80% and above they sound like a leaf blower :p

But all in all, not terrible....depends how sensitive to the noise you are, i'm used to rigs with loads of fans making noise :)
