Hi! Been running my 470 for a good year now, and during this time I've had it clocked to 820MHz on the core, and 1950MHz on the memory.

While I was playing burnout paradise my framerate suddenly dropped, I changed afterburner and my core core had dropped to 405MHz though the other overclockers were what they should be. I restarted, began playing again and the same thing happened. Anybody know what is going on? I'm on driver 290.36

Go into the Nvidia control panel.

Go to the program list. If you see your game there then change "Adaptive performance" to "prefer maximum performance" but DO NOT do it globally.

I had your issue when running quad SLI. The cards continually down clocked and FPS went to dog doos.

Edit. Sorry.. Forgot to tell you how to fix it if your game isn't in the list.. Simply add it, browse to it and add the executable :)

Then go ahead and change the adaptive performance to prefer maximum performance :)

Brilliant! That seems to have fixed it, weird how it started happening recently though! At least it means my gpu isn't getting dodgy!!

It's the cackola drivers.

My games would start out fine. Pause them, enter a different building (in Fallout 3) or at the load screen? as soon as they came back they were slow as balls.
