GTX 480 failing WUs

So I come home today and when I checked my PC I look at HFM to find only 1 480 is folding. Upon inspection the 2nd 480 has failed 5 WUs. Strange. Both cards were at stock speeds, hmm.

So I try restarting, re-installing driver, re-installing GPU client to no avail.

It fails 5 WUs before becoming "offline" according to hfm.net.

I'm even more confused to the fact the 480 works fine in games with sli.

I also attempted folding with SLI enabled and then disabled but it made no difference.

Only recently installed Windows so I can't see a problem there.

Has my 480 finally bit the dust? Any help would be appreciated :)

I had that a couple of days ago but it was with my watercooled 8800GT

it all seemed to happen when i first picked up an openmmgpu wu.
What i did was to delete all the files in the client folder except the client config file and then replaced them with the files from one of my other client folders again leaving the clientcfg file.

it may be worth a try.

I've found that medium to high temps can cause my 480 to fail WUs. Try using MSI Afterburner to increase the fan speed, assuming it is aircooled.

have you at any stage rebooted the PC? Sometimes I used to have to do that when running two cards. One card would just keep failing until I rebooted, very odd.

You should try getting 4 of the buggers to fold

Definitely need to assign two cores to the bloody things to maintain 100% usage on the GPUs

Otherwise two of them drop down to 70% GPU usage. :(
