GTX 480 map loading times in BFBC2

I was going to agree with the ATI/W7x64 as being the culprit but having just read the notes it says its a known fault on all Windows flavours.

I will have to try the DX9 workaround as well then, assuming I can find where to do it.

Although theres DX9 bugs, lighting inappropriately flashing etc.
Or has this been fixed?

I have to admit the loading times really get on my nerves.

I haven't noticed anything really when playing. although some people have mentioned some glass being opaque and weird texture issues. They were on a DX10 using DX9 though, so maybe 5 Series doesn't have these issues :|

Should be a folder in My Docs called BFBC2 and a settings.ini file inside that. Change DXLevel from auto to 9 :)

Its a problem with shader optimisations EVERY round instead of just once like in BF2. It should only load "slow" once and then be fine after that until you change video settings/drivers. This however isn't the case.

Like I said earlier in the thread, this is the problem.

The 58xx series have an enormous amount of shaders (1600 on the 5870 for example) which is where the delay in loading time is appearing.

Funnily enough, but slightly off topic.
I just installed my hd 5770 yesterday and added a second today :), but the map loading times for call of duty world at war have also increased since I switched over to ati from my previos nvidia gtx 260.
One or two hd 5770's, makes no difference the map loading times have definitely increased .
