Contemplating watercooling a GTX 480, so looking for some advice on what to get.

This is all to fit inside a TJ08, so no 240 or 360 rads.

I can get a thick 120 in the back and a slim 180 in the front.

I will need everything included in this, which I'm not sure is going to happen in a budget of £160.

Thanks

Impossible to do so unless you can get your hands on a 2nd hand gtx 480 block, i picked an ek gtx 480 block + evga black plate for £35 off MM.

Edit: you don't seem to have access to MM. :(

or alternatively you could go down the universal block route like I did since I had a non-ref card and then cool the VRM and VRAM with heatsinks. Works fine just not 'pretty' but who cares if you don't have a window.

I was able to make the universal look ok by using black ram sinks and to cool the vrms I bought the corsair dominator ram extension heatsinks. They look really sharp in black and this way you wont have any copper heatsinks sticking out.

Yeah sure.

Sorry about the bad picture. As you can see it is sticking up over the card so it needs a little trim but it does the job well. However the guys who responded in my thread were right the vrms on a 480 are roasting and if i don't have the 120mm fan just left of the picture on the heatsink is too hot to touch.

Now that's a solution i did'nt think of. Trimmed down a tad it would look good as well. I had a nightmare with the VRM's on my 480 originally. I used ramsinks on them and they still hit 120 degrees at stock. I then cut down a old pentium heatsink and aimed a fan at it and now they are in the mid 50-60's. Looks terrible though. I have just got hold of a full copper low profile socket 478 heatsink that i was going to cut down but now i have seen yours i might try something different. Going to change cases as well. I have been heavily modifying my CM Storm Scout and have fitted (amongst other things) a new side window along with a 200mm intake fan so there will be plenty of air blowing across the 480.

That's not what we were talking about though. You still need to cool the VRM's and they are the problem.

The Antec Khuler dropping the temps by only 10 degrees over the stock cooler is not particularly impressive either.

This, i have seen over a 30c drop on my temps using the EK gtx 480 block and i dont even have it mounted correctly.
