Hey there.

I am looking at getting a GTX 480 in the next week or so.
Some posts say this card is a little loud.

How loud are we talking? I normally immerse myself in my surround headphones when gaming, but I do other stuff too on the PC w/o headphones on.

Im not looking to clock the card either

I've just ordered one myself. They are great value at the moment for the performance they give. I'm also a little worried it's going to sound like a dust buster though!

Its just the ati fan boys saying that there really loud. There not that bad. If you have bad cooling in your case they will get loud. Even on 100% you will not hear it over your head phones

Stock solutions are loud, mr headphones comment is hilarious.

Get the gigabyte 480 SOC on here for £240 at the moment, it's fast as hell and has a far superior cooling solution that means it is quieter than a 5870 under load.

Second that, amazing performance and quiet too, dont get the ASUS go for the Giga SOC, the ASUS perfomed well but was loud, The giga is silent at idle and is pretty quiet when strssed my dvd drive by far and away the loudest thing in my system.
