GTX 560 owners

I have two gigabyte SOCs in SLi. Initially i had problems with temps, even with only one card in the system, but only when running kombuster. And i later found reviews which reproduced the temperatures i'd reached, despite my concerns that i had somehow managed to get two faulty cards (i tested each independently) - 90 degrees after a few minutes which would then usually crash the drivers in win7.

I was advised widely (mainly by people on guru3d though) not to use kombuster as the load/temps it produces will never be reproduced in a real-world gaming scenario. They also advised more generally against any specialist stress testing, suggesting something like Heaven as a means to load the card in a realistic way.

All that said, at the time, i was using a case without any side panel ventilation. It wasn't a **** case (coolermaster HAF 922), but i think i'm reaching the conclusion that for modern graphics cards, particularly heavily overclocked ones, a fan in the side of the case can range from at the very least advantagous, to down-right neccesary. And if you're running 2 or more cards in the same system, you're towards the neccesary end of that spectrum. This is my experience anyway.

Now, with a coolermaster HAF-X case (with side panel ventilation) my cards are 28 and 28 degrees idle, and anwhere from 55 degrees to 68 degrees under load, depending on the game. Crysis for example, maxed out @ 1920x1200 his at the top end of that scale. Blops, capped at 60fps, is right at the bottom. I think these temps for real-world gaming, are pretty ****ing awesome :D So yeah, provided your case has good ventilation, even the oc'd versions of these cards run nice and cool.

I am not an owner but there seems to be a large number of people with factory overclocked cards which have been having problems mainly due to the fact that the overclocks are too agressive. The Gigabyte cards have in particular have had quite a lot of problems.

Im yet even to have BSOD due to GB GTX560 OC, and mine running at 1000/2200/4400, i must say with msi i had way more problems, and now with Gigabyte i have no problems at all, dont know what you mean by saying that GB have more problems than others, thats not true
Yes, i'm using MSI Afterburner for overcklocking

I have MSI TwinFrozr2 version, clocked to 960/4600 with default voltage.

Runs everything in 1920*1200 and max details. Just Cause 2 concrete jungle some 50fps.

And is stable in furmark extreme 40 minutes.

Out of interest why are you after a 560 compared to other options (e.g. 6950)? I am considering one as I am after a quiet card, and have abandoned the Gigabyte SOC version as it appears to be one of the noiseiest 560 cards available.

Will do, I will have to wait for stock but might get impatient and get the OC version as its still plenty quick enough

GB do actually manufacture a 6950 but for some reason OCUK dont stock it

For 1080p, the SOC or overclocked MSI GTX560 are pretty much the same as 6970 performance wise, so it is better deal anyway, plus you get physx as a nice bonus in games like Mafia 2 or Batman.
