Hey guys,

I have recently bought my first self build system. I have never built one before and i must say i enjoyed it a lot. Now ofcourse i wanted to test the system and even try my hands on OC'ing ... so far so good i went to the max on my CPU with a stock cooler (with advised temperatures) gonna add a custom cooler to get even more out of it.

Now the next part is there OC'ing my gfx card. To find out what temperatures i would get at Stock settings i run furmark 3d 06..i tryed 2011 but since i have no HD screen (yet!!!) it would give me only errors. Now my question is the following :

Is this a good and decent score + temperature at stock?

Firstly ill post my specs:

Case: Zalman Z9 plus
Mobo : MSI p67s-c43 B3
CPU: i5 2500K @4.2 ghz
GFX Card: EVGA GTX560 Ti
Ram: Corsair XMS 4GB ddr3 (only 1 stick , want to expand with another stick for dual channel)
HDD: Samsung spinpoint f3.
PSU: CHieftek 550W

* I still run on a 32bit O/S since like the extra stick of ram and the screen and the custom cooler i couldnt afford these things this month. So they are on my list for the next month.

Well here is my score + max temperature:

25539 3DMarkscore
idle temperature : 31 degrees celsius
Furmark temp: 65 degrees celsius...

so again is this normal? and can i proceed overclocking the GFX card??
Thnnx guys!

Oke so i went on with some OC'ing on the GFX card. After ready lots of usefull things on the internet i figured i should be able to reach a stable graphics clock 950mhz oc whilst its at 850 stock.
So i went on from 850 to 870 succesfull , to 900 succesfull but im currrently maxing out at 915mhz then my drivers start to fail.

Now im going to see how far i can push the memory clock. What i would like to know is:

- does my 32mbit w7 copy hold my OC'ing back?
- Does my PSU cause driver issue's
- Does my drivers (who are the newest) cause the issue's
- or do i have badluck and a bad clocker GTX 560 Ti

Reason im asking this is cuz my temperatures doesnt reach past 69 degrees during 3dmark06... whilst i read on the interwebz the card can be pushed asfar as 80 degrees... Could realy use the help guys cuz im total noob at this :D

Mate I'd edit out the iffy legality of your OS. Massive no-no on these forums I'm afraid.

What you mean?(A):p its gone now , thnx for the heads up. Just thought it would be usefull info on the fact that my Drivers are failing during furmark at any mhz above 915...

How would i up the levels of voltage? can this be done on the bios as easily as on the CPU??? and wich would be a good voltage setting for my card. Since i read about these cards running 950/1000 mhz on stock voltage..... and mine runs out at 915.... realy bummed about it:(

Hye mojo ,

Thnx for the replies! I first tried it with nvidia systemtools ... worked fine till 915mhz.. now i tried it with msi and got to 950 mhz on the furmark test thing inside the msi afterburner. When i click burn-in it is only a matter of seconds before drivers start failing again.

Now i looked at msi afterburner but i cant up the voltage..its grayed... so this leaves me with no further OC possibilities?

hmm you might be right about hte chieftechs but it has served me for over 6 years already and never had any problems with it! its a realy nice psu tbh. But i guess it wouldnt hurt to replace it and for now leave my gfx cards at 915mhz... its atleast a 65mhz OC from stock. And i havent changed voltages yet. So i might be leaving it at that.

For now atleast. Cuz i realy got hooked to OC'ing and pushing it furhter haha. Finally understanding what u guys always feel when OC'ing!

Alright ill give it another swing tonight and up the voltage a bit to see how far i can push it:)

Thnx all! ill report back tonigth!

As promised im back to report my OC`ing.
I had to up the voltage quite abit to reach a stable 950Mhz But im there and the temperatures are great!

Graphics clock: 950Mhz
Shader clock: 1900Mhz
Memory clock: 2350Mhz
Voltage:1.087
Max temp: 63 Degrees @ 50% FAN speed.

So all in all im abit sad it takes this much voltage but in the end i got the clocks i wanted to have and get 27336 3Dmark06 score so im happy with it.
Thnx for all the advice and yes i will be replacing my PSU for safety after money comes in.

that could sound correct as u have a gtx580 and ure cpu is nearly on the same clocks as mine..i run 4.2 cuz i have only stock cooler atm:( but those are some nice scores...dont know what avarage is for a 580 but sure as hell beats the **** out of my gtx560:P
