GTX 560 Ti

Hi, I have a GTX 560Ti with i5 3470 Ivy bridge cpu. When I play games such as dayz/dota2 it gets overheated very very quickly forcing me off the game before it burns, I opened the case and it was extreamly warm. Any idea what is causing it?

How hot?

Is it causing graphical errors etc?

Or is it just you thinking that its too hot?

Just caused a computer crash (blue screen) sort of thing, not trying any other games at the moment dont want the gpu to burn on me

Gpus generally get 'hot', how many degrees are we talking?

What did the bsod dump say?

Installing a temp monitoring program now to give you exact temp.

you need to install MSI Afterburner and monitor the temps, from within that program you can also set a custom fan profile to make the fan spin faster to get rid of the heat, remember your case will need intake and exhaust fans as well otherwise the hot air will just sit inside the case.

70-80 degrees at pretty high settings. Is this normal?

70-80 should be fine if you have decent case cooling. Any more than that, and i would worry.

1440x900 highest my monitor will let me, the air flow seems to be fine.

Are you sure it was the gpu that caused the bsod, what did the dump file say/error code?

70-80 seems okay not brilliant , unlikely to cause instability I don't think.

agreed, 70-80 degrees is unlikely to cause you issues, what temps are your processor getting up to?

You can monitor with hardware monitor from www.cpuid.com

think it might be the case, when the case is open the temp doesn't go past 70 but when its shut it climbs higher than that. Is it okay to leave the case open to get some airflow or will that cause issues?

no problem at all. leave it open, set the fan speed to 100% and game for a couple hours, if it doesnt crash you have your answer

Its on auto and stays at 60. Seems like a case upgrade is needed

Or you could increase the current airflow with some more fans, antec spot fan would be good just put it by the gpu.
