Is anyone else getting there card crashing then recovering when it's doing next to nothing? (so is only running at 51Mhz or whatever instead).

Seems very stable in games overclocked, but glitchy when idle.

I've had it fine, clocked @900mhz. The only time it's crashed and recovered was once when I tried out a beta driver. Apart from that it has seemed fine on idle.

I don't mind it, it's just irritating lol. I assume it's drivers at present, or perhaps the silicone just doesn't like it that low.. who knows. It wasn't doing it when I first bought the card, so it could be a driver issue I suppose.

a lot of pre-overclocked cards are having this issue. For some it's solved with a bios update (usually Gigabyte models) for others rolling back to the 275.33 driver fixes it.

You don't mention the card model or the driver used. People can't help until you give them some info.

The crash is usually caused by the video card failing to respond (in this case perhaps it fails to change its performance mode) in the two second window required by Windows. It's commonly called 'the TDR issue' if you want to google it.

I get this at least once a day when doing non-gaming things, usually browsing with Firefox but never have a problem with games. My previous 470 did it very frequently, so this is still a massive improvement.

One thing I haven't actually noted is whether it does it when I have it overclocked and the voltage increased. I tend to keep it on default settings until I want to play something and then change the Afterburner profile for gaming. I don't usually change it back after as I usually shut down (for bed) but sometimes I do go on the internet again.

For me it does it on stock volt/settings as well. But it didn't when first installed so maybe it's something else? (also.. I notice that MSN seems to keep the card running at full speed...)

The MSN issue will be caused by flash ads. Disable the ads or use Trillian.

ah ha! I did wonder if the video's were the cause, but I'd watch you tube and my gpu usage wouldn't go up from 51Mhz.. so I thought that it wasn't the cause. Thank you for the tip. Will look up disabling the ad's :-) (they always irritate me anyway).

Update: Thanks for that. I just used 'A-Patch' to remove adverts :-) Also, off topic, I like that it added the bit about Islam on the end there. You don't need bombs and gun's for people to be interested in something. (Btw.. I'd consider myself a Christian... just nice to see that sort of thing imo).
