ok then been putting of upgrading my 4870 vaporx but think its nearly time

was wondering if i could run a 560ti on my 500watt power suply

its been running the 4870 overclocked fine
cpu is a i5-750 running at stockspeeds yes i know its a sin

the other option is a gtx560 or a 6870 and before anyone says no i cant streach to £200+ cards

iam using a ocz modxstream 500w

That will be fine.
If you wait, then prepare to wait for a 2012 release as it isn't ridiculously unlikely that that will happen.

I would just get a gap filler card eg GTX 560

if you do decide to go after a gap filler card to tie you over until 28nm has full been depolyed i would suggest going for the gainwood gtx 560ti phantom 2gb.

out of topic but curious, why do people call it "gainwood" when its "gainward" ?
ive seen a couple of posts reffering to it like this.

Overkill for a gap filler card. A standard one will be fine.

I think it's just people not reading properly. There was a thread with gainwood in the title and ever since more and more people have been Calling it that. It's GAINWARD!!!

Brand really doesn't matter. I had an XFX card as my first card and only wanted to buy XFX from then on but I an guarantee you brand loyalty rarely matters. The only brands I would buy are
MSI
Gigabyte
EVGA

This is because of their excellent RMA
