I recently put together a shiny new sandybridge rig. However I have been getting artifacts while playing BFBC2.

They don't happen very often it's once every 10 hours of play more or less, and does not happen every session. It happens to me on average once a week, so its really annoying to try and pin down the exact cause.

My GTX 570 is only a month old, so I can probably return it if needed, but is there anything else I can try first?

I replaced my PSU with a new corsair HX 850 last week. And I have run my i5 at stock speeds for a while now, but I still managed to get an artifact earlier today, causing my system to freeze which has to be reset.

Check the link below for an image of what the artifacts look like, when they happen I must do a physical reset of the PC as it locks up :(

Any help is useful,

Cheers Ed.

what temps are you getting on the card?

have you clocked it at all?

if you dont have good cooling in your case it could be over heating.

if its not and you haven't clocked it then i would send it back. the problem will not get better. unless its a driver issue.

try new drivers or even old ones if your on new ones

Have run furmark on it for about an hour with no problems. The temps seem fine I've even increased the fan speed to lower temps further but I still get problems.

It's the MSI pre overclocked version of the GTX 570, I've just decided to downclock it to default 570 speeds to see if that makes a difference. I guess i'll be sending it back then unfortunately :(

Try re-seating the card, it may not have 100% contact with the pci-e slot, sounds silly but I've done it in the past.

Failing that it looks like a similar problem I've had in the past.

The place I rma'd my card to, tested it with the Crysis benchmark and reported back that the memory failed.

The Crysis benchmark must be memory intensive if they were using it to test the card, so you could maybe try that as an indicator, no harm trying.
