Hi Everyone,

I own a gtx 570 and I am seriously considering getting another for sli.

But i have been reading that there are too many problems with sli?

power consumption is a worry but mostly performance.

I only play on 1080p...

Thanks

I don't own a 570 but i do have 2 x 580 3gb in sli and i have no problems on any game ive played, the only issue i ever had was f1 2011 where i disabled sli as the menus would not display properly , that was fixed in a patch if i remember right and ive never looked back , 570s in sli woud be a nice setup , good performance without spending massive amounts of money. There are new nvidia cards on the way in a couple of months though so if you hold you may get yourself a bargain either second hand or perhaps a drop in new price for these existing cards.

I hope my 2cents helps !

There are fewer issues with SLi than there ever used to be and as long as Nvidia keep updating their driver profiles you'll have no problems at all.

However considering the new Nvidia cards coming very soon Id wait before buying another 570 as Id imagine they will drop in price

Wait for the new cards to come out first.

Your PSU should be capable of running them (presuming it has the right connectors)

There are no problems with SLI that i've seen yet

+1 for good airflow. It really helps, as does good board spacing. From my own experience, reference cooled cards are much better temp wise than non reference. But the negative to that is an increase in fan noise.

A lot of issues regard heat, so simply having good airflow could help a fair few of those problems.

I'm not going into specifics at all the fact is they both have possible issues and the same could be said for CF.

I Don't go on Nvidia forums ;)

But what sort of problems are the main ones?

If micro stutter is the only possible problem with multi GPU then your from a different universe as that would also make it better than single because im sure besides frame rates Multi GPU does not fix other issues that even Single GPU have.
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showforum=213

And you know the multi GPU link already.

And im done.

And even then its minimal...

Microstutter will be minimal on your [email protected] if there is any at all, but on a PII 1090T if it's@stock???

You would be looking at pushing the 1090T as fast as possible to minimise microstutter on 570sli.

SLI/CrossFire can be trouble free, but it can also be a huge pita to some.

There are some folks here that think to jump in blindly when they aren't confident enough with 1 gpu never mind 2, which then turns into 'it's garbage/rubbish/too much hassle',(***delete as appropriate***) which leaves dual gpu's with a tarnished image most of the time.

I realise dual gpu's are anything but install and forget, but I don't believe they are as bad as some make out either, you should do your homework first and match up the right components.

Indeed Homework is needed and the matching up of components, but the impression by others here was like its all roses because he did ask about possible problems.

My personal experience has been rosy but im not blind to issues of others that i read about and pretend that there isn't based on my personnel rosy experience.

untill recently ive used nvidia and loved sli went with xfire on my latest build and i dont like ati at all, i know people love their ati cards but im going back to sli ASAP got 2 hd 5770 in xfire atm and i dont rate them or the ati drivers at all. ive never had any problems with sli ever

i will add i only bought the 5770 cause i fried one of my nvidia cards after the solder went dry on a joint so i put it in the oven to warm the solder back up worked for like 3 months then went again but going back to sli when i can afford new cards

sorry for the late replies everyone, I have just purchased another gtx 570. just the OCUK one really. But yes, I'll need to over clock my cpu eventually...will eventually get round to that as I'll need to change my case as it is a antec 300.

my plan is to eventually get the corsair 600t then a crucial SSD....

I have 470s in SLI and as long as you keep your drivers updated then it is practically install and forget. I've had no issues at all & have even overclocked them to within an inch of their life! The only thing you have to remember to do is go into the Nvidia control panel & enable SLI whenever you install a new driver. By default SLI is disabled.

cheers, have you or anyone else tried 3 way? if i wanted to do this, i'd need to OC my cpu and change my psu. but, what FPS has anyone gotten?
