hi guys i built my pc back in 2011, i put in a gtx 570 but i've noticed it's lagging with newer games, so i want to upgrade, can someone suggest a good card to go for i have a budget of about 200 to 300 roughly a little over is not to bad, but less would be ideal.

I just made (within the last couple of days in-fact) the upgrade from an MSI GTX570 to an MSI R9 280X and I'm pretty pleased with the results. Would recommend it.

IMO I would go for this -

Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=gx-337-sp

last month it was on for £299

i'm sure the 290 can be clocked to 290x speeds, for an extra £40 it a big step up from the 770 and 280x - http://www.techspot.com/review/734-battlefield-4-benchmarks/page3.html

Yes, not much difference really. This link includes videos of 290 and 290X side by side showing FPS - http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-radeon-r9-290-290x-review

hmmm i'm a little bit hesitent to move away from nvidia due to the fact that my last radeon decided it would blow up a few years back, thus i went to nvidia and it's only the lack of power thats making me want to change is there and sort of card that would give me the 290x or 280x quality but with nvidia? or am i going to be disappointed if i dont suck it up and make the change?

Two I would go for on that budget.

EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SC ACX Dual Bios 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (02G-P4-2776-KR) £275.99 inc VAT

Or if you want a 4GB and slightly faster card for £24 more go for the Inno3D GeForce GTX 770 iChill HerculeZ X3 Ultra 4096MB.

Inno3D GeForce GTX 770 iChill HerculeZ X3 Ultra 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (C770-2SDN-M5DSX)
