Which brand is better ?

MSI GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

or

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 570 OC WINDFORCE 3X 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

EVGA :D

The Gigabyte cooler is better, presuming that the MSI is a reference card.

Personally, I think the windforce, DS and TF coolers are roughly on par with eachother (GB,EVGA and MSI) but it really depends on what you want

This.

Other components there are myriad manufacturers to go with, but with a GPU, you just can't beat the piece of mind and epic build quality that comes with an EVGA card.

There so good I even have too! (which reminds me Cleeecooo, please update my trust and I will do the same :))

For total bog standard reference correct.

However EVGA boasts a 10 year warranty with a lot of its cards, and they remake a lot of the cards but keep to the reference design. (I think the 580 has a re-designed power thingy-majig to help with overclocks)

And the RMA supports removing the reference cooler.

You pay more. But you get more.

An EVGA product contains a suffix used to identify the warranty. As an example: 130-SB-E675-KR shows -KR for the suffix. This example can be used for all EVGA part numbers when referencing the suffix.

All -KR products purchased ON or AFTER January 1st, 2011 include a 3 year limited warranty from the date of purchase. Registration is recommended. Optional Extended Warranty and Step-Up™ eligibility are offered for purchase upon product registration of a -KR part number within 30 days of the purchase date.
This includes the following suffixes: -K1, -K2, -KR
Products purchased ON or AFTER November 1, 2006 MUST be registered within 30 days of the ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE to receive EVGA's Free Extended Warranty. All products not registered within 30 days will ONLY receive a 2 year limited warranty. Refer to the following suffix guide to identify the length of your warranty:
Limited 10 Year: -ER, -E1, -E2, -E3, -A1, -A2, -A3, -A4, -AR, -AX, -CR, -CX, -DX, -FR, -FX, -SG, -SX (EU Region only)
Limited 3 Year: -EK, -K1, -K2, -KR (Before 1/1/11)
Limited 2 Year: -ET, -EL, -LA, -LE, -LR, -LX, -T1, -T2, -TR, -TX
Limited 1 Year: -B1, -BR, -BX, -DR
Limited 90 Day: -RX (Recertified parts)

EVGA part no. 012-P3-1570-ER for example.

Agree with the evga recommendations.

My 470 was on the blink last year, did the advanced rma (Paid up front & they sent me a brand new overclocked 560ti. Sent my 470 back & got the money returned. Only paid for shipping the card back (£17 i think?)

Sold the 560 to my brother & grabbed an overclocked 570 lol.

So yeah, you pay extra but there's greater flexibility if the card goes wrong.

whats this reference thingy ?

How can you tell if its reference or not ?

Mainly by looking at it. The reference cards usually have the cooler at the back

Also the EVGA 570 are all 3yr warranty?

ER cards have 10yrs
