GTX 580 Overclocking help Noob :)

This is going to sound silly but, what games are you struggling on with stock speeds for needing to overclock? :D

I have a aftermarket cooler but on mine i run it at 1.1v and 900/1800 and its rocksoild and i never go above 60 but on stock u can get it to 800/1600 easily and 850/1700 probaly if u ran the fan at 100%.

Start by downloading msi afterburner, this has slides that you can move up and down until you find the clocks/volts you want. When you have found those stress test with furmark or something like that (maybe run a stressful game for abit) and if it crashes/artifacts add a little more voltage/decrease clocks. Do this until stable.

Download MSI afterburner as said. The card should get to 825Mhz GPU without any voltage increase 900Mhz should be achieveablw ith 1.1v and a custom fan profile, i perfere using Heaven Benchmark to test my overclock as it give a more realistic load temp and for me does a good job at finding any instability.

What about shader clock?about 1600mhz without voltage increase usually?

You can't clock the shader separately on the 5 series of cards.

Ah yeah true, looked at wrong thing in afterburner i remember two of them being linked but what about memory that would go to 2100mhz roughly or is that pushing it for stock voltage?

My zotac was ok running on normal settings when I got the the msi 580 oc( cept it came flashed with non iced bios) the msi card needed flashing to the oced bios, when I did that i oced the zotac via afterburner to same settings as the msi card and i has no problems. After week I was happy it was ok and I flashed the zotac board with the msi bios. No problems here. It's risky but it worked for me
