Ive recently started having problems with my EVGA GTX580 DS SC, my pc has started to reboot, whilst playing games.

Upon benching the system with furmark and prime95 it seems the gfx card is going way up to 100*c almost instantly, 5 secs later the system reboots.

The card was recommended on these very forums as the cooler was supposed to be the nuts, it was only purchased 20th Oct.

What would be your next step?

Do you have another card in any of the expansion slots underneath your 580 (are you using your old GTX280 a physx card for example)? You have to remember it doesn't matter how good the video card cooler is a 580 is still generating just under 300 watts of waste heat under load and that heat needs to be removed from the case and have sufficient air circulation to stop the heat from being trapped in any one compartment.

No other cards, and ive tried everything, turned all my case fans on to full (what a racket), removed side panel.

Ive changed nothing in my system for this to suddenly start to happen. Setting for bf3 have stayed the same.

I know furmark is intensive but surely it should last longer than 10 secs.

you think its worth reseating the cooler?

I take it the cooler's fans are kicking in when under load? Might be worth checking, I set my fan speed manually once and left it at 30%... the GTX460 soon shut the PC down. :D

Seems the cooler on the Ds Superclocked is not what its cracked up to be. It seems it just rests in place and is not actually screwed or clamped to the core.
