Hello there

I built my new rig last week (my specs are in my sig) and when I come to play games (bf2, mw, mw2, black ops) / videos (720/1080p mkvs in VLC) with SLI enabled everything is jittery and stuttery (both audio and video, the audio breaks up and video appears to the missing frames)

Things i have tried so far are:
1 - ensured all power connections are secure.
2 - switched the sli bridge from the 1st connector to the 2nd (currently on the second).
3 - updated / checked for drivers (inc beta) with sli enabled and disabled (running 285.38).
4 - nothing is overclocked so cant be stability issues surely?

Everything works well with 1 card enabled.

Cards are in pcie slots 1 and 4 on the mobo.

After playing on one card for about an hour temps are around 55-60 degrees C. CPU at around 50.

Other than swapping around the GFX cards and trying them separately, is there anything I have missed?

Thanks

Adam

according to gpuz

card one is at x16
card two is at x8 (should be x16 but my soundcard is the last slot, not the smaller x1 slot).

how would i manually set them?

You probably wouldn't, it's not typical Asus ;-)
Try to:
1) remove soundcard at all = check if it sorts out the issue, or
2) disable in BIOS all the unused devices, like HD Audio, controllers, ports etc etc = it's possible that some of them share PCIe lanes with graphic card slot. Now, it looks like soundcard takes some from it, but PCH has another lanes, so maybe mobo would assign them in other way when you turn off some devices.

You don't.

If you put any card in the bottom x16 slot then the second slot you're using for the graphics cards will drop down to x8.

If you want 2 cards at x16 then put your sound card in a x1 slot.

Genius, have removed the soundcard and I can now play videos and games stutter free :-)... Thanks

Now I wonder why the soundcard was causing problems :-/... makes me sad, I like my soundcard :-s.

Anyone any ideas?
