The 590 is expected within 2 weeks of the 6990 acording to fudzilla, just long enough to tweak the speed to just edge ATI at a guess - but the competition is only good for the consumer

Oh good, so if you're in the market for a 570, it might be an idea to wait for a price drop i take it?

This card and the 6990 are high end so you could argue they would have no effect on midrange card pricing like the gtx 570 and the ati 6950. However you may as well wait to see if the prices go down when the new cards are released. If nothing happens well you haven't lost out but if the prices do drop you'll kick yourself for not waiting.

The prices might go down a bit. There aint much headroom for a price point above the £450 580. It would make sense to reduce the rrp of the range to allow a new top end card in.

Try £700, the GTX590 is meant to be 2x GTX580's at the end of the day and those are large chips which cost an arm and leg for Nvidia to buy from TSMC and if it's going to be faster then the HD6990 it's going to cost to more. And don't expect a lot either as when you get past £200 on this kind of hardware the returns on investment diminish rapidly and exponentially.

No way will it be that, Especially at launch. £100 more than a 580GTX yet almost twice as powerful? na-ah

I would say £600 is a CONSERVATIVE estimate.

I think considering the 6990 is £579.99 and the nvidia card will be faster judging from the cards it's based off, Plus it's nvidia so they charge more, I'm going to say £659.99

I thought gibbo said in another thread just before the 6990 was released that the info he had at the time they where looking at £100 dearer than a 6990.
