GTX 590 ?

isn't a couple of 3gig 580s a bit of overkill, i thought that one would be good enough

all i want is a super powerful pc, one monitor only and decent framerates for CRYSIS WARHEAD/ RAGE and DOOM 4, yes i said DOOM 4 :D

If you want to run something like 3x 1920x1080 panels in surround with a reasonable level of AA i.e. 4x or 2560x with a good level of AA then its not overkill - anyone who says you don't need AA at that res is talking out their rear tbh.

True, though they've been on the case for three years or so, just a teaser would be nice.

it's nothing like DOOM 3, But it's classic Doom and it's nothing like Rage, it is being developed right now ( rage engine), but not by the Rage team.... 2 separate development teams. it might therefore be for release next year, but the thing is we've seen no media stuff yet and that usually apears a year early, so my guess is it could be more than a year.

it'll be a system hog, hell yea' :D because it's supposed to be as advanced as Doom 3 was for its time, as long as it includes Hellknights and isn't a disasterous sequel like FEAR 2 was.

Yeah, three times the graphical richness of Rage I remember Carmack saying. Well, since Rage looks very pretty imo, this new Doom game should be jaw dropping, and potentially rather painful after open wallet surgery.

yea' now this is why i'm worried about the 580 PHANTOM 3GIG, will it be powerful enough for DOOM 4, it's a real worry... or do i need SLI

i might get an overclock bundle from 3** ( sorry i cant mention their name here)

Personally I'd get the best you can afford now, by the time the game is released it may well be time for another upgrade anyway. Like you say, it could a couple of years away, though I doubt much more than that since they are using the Rage engine, which I expect you already know. :)

i'm going to have to research this new PC all over again, i'm 6 months behind.

2 years away and a new pc right now will still be ok, because mine only really got outdated after about 4 years and i've had it now for almost 6, i've only ever updated the Card, it still has the 6400 X2, it presently has an anchient 8800 GTX :D, but back then it was **** hot, amazing isn't it :D

that old card plays Borderlands easily, DOOM 4 cant be that advanced, after all; it's still using the basic Rage engine
