Hi,

This is my first post so i will say hello to everybody.

I would like some help with my setup/system and the card I got Saturday, I may need to rma the card.

I purchased a MSI 660 PE OC because of the cheaper price on Friday.
My PC is fairly new, got parts from overclockers:-

Main board MSI Z77-GD65 with the free 8GB ram
I5 3570K oem chip @ 4.2Ghz with 212 cooler

Was using the on chip graphics for a while waiting for the 660.

After installing and putting the 304.79 driver on, I could be playing anyone of my games eg BF3, BFBC2 vietnam, MOH, COD, Wings of Prey, IL2 COD and after 5 -10 mins all of the games freeze and go to a white screen but i can still hear the game through my speakers, same for multi and single play.

After reading about the WSOD I updated punkbuster for the games on the list and tried a different driver and checked the settings, I still get the WSOD.

But in 3D Markk11, and I get nearly 9000 and in Heaven 3.0 and I got over 2500.
I ran the kombuster for over 30mins and it was ok, temp got to 76 and the fans were at 30%.
Does anybody have any ideas that I could try.

I know I should have bought a 670 when they were about 285, I may rma this and put the extra to one.

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Hi KW1

WSOD is something I have never come across before and after doing some research, it is something that isn't common.

I would clean out the 304.79 drivers via ccleaner, reboot and install the 304.79 again. Also in your BIOS, you could try disabling the onboard gfx. If neither of these work, go for a clean install of your OS.

The only time i ever experienced a wsod was with a particular set of nv drivers quite a few months ago. When going higher than x4 aa in bfbc2, the game would wsod as the op describes. Had to roll back to an earlier driver revision.

Thanks for the replys, but I found this in the event viewer.

Performance power management features on proceesor(number) in group(number) are disabled due to a firmware problem. Check with the manufacturer for updated firmware.

Any ideas on what I could do as the motherboard is on the latest bios and have found out I had this error before installing the graphics card.

Thanks

Kevin
