Ok I have just purchased a pov 'charged' gtx 670 from overclockers I replaced it from gtx 460. Now the card 'seems' to work ok, Have only had it 1 day, but the fan noise makes a low buzzing noise thats kind of annoying, I just want to make sure this isn't faulty, my last card a gtx 460 wasn't audible at the desktop but this is, I can here it over 5 other fans in my case antec 900. Now if this is normal I will suck it up and leave it at that, but for £270.00 you would have thought they could put a decent fan in it.

If it is a ref style fan, I hear the 670s are quite irritating. The 680 Ref I had was quite a whine at 65% + but nothing I couldn't live with.

Edit: Just looked and it is a ref fan. I think some earphones are a wise choice :)

This makes a noise at the desktop just browsing the web, Maybe I am used to quiet fans, the rest of my system you can hear the fans but its just a 'air' noise this fan sounds more like a whining noise motor noise?.

It shouldn't sound any different to a very fast fan and you shouldn't hear it on the desktop, only whilst gaming.

Maybe to confirm if it is normal, start up afterburner and manually set the fan to 30%/40%/50%/60%/70%/80% and see if it is still the same kind of noise.

Ok I tried afterburner on 30% which Is the lowest it will let me go It is quiet but not inaudible, when It gets to just 35% I can here a whining noise, is this normal because this is a step back from my £150.00 gtx 460 that was also a referance card. The thing is I dont want ot rma it back to overclockers and they say it is normal and charge me restocking fee ect.

I think someone else with a 670 will have to confirm bud sorry. I just know with my 680 reference card it was a little noisy when gaming only.

I guess this is a subjective thing, to someone it will not bother them yet to another it will annoy the hell out of them. Not sure what to do. Would be interesting to here someone who has a gtx 670 reference model what there opinion is regarding the fan noise.
