Hi guys I appear to be having a few issues with one of my sli 670 cards when playing games one of the cards drops to 0% power usage as per msi afterburner which is causing game locks

Ive reseated the power cables and even tried different power sockets on my psu which is an ocx zt 1250 unit

Any suggestions orcould it be a dodgy card that will have to go back?

Either overclocked? iirc my 670 would spike to about 220% power usage them plummet to 0% on a bad oc/boost.

no overclock but i have ramped the power limit up to 122% as I read that helps for smoother play as allows the card to stay on boot if needed could it be that?

What temps are the cards hitting and whats the power usage like before it drops off to 0%?

Tried other/newer drivers? It may also be an idea to run each card individually to see if you can replicate the fault with one card (would help point to a faulty card).

running 306.23 which Im pretty sure are the latest temps are normally in the mid to high 50s

I'm stumped then :(

Can you replicate the problem at will? I would say testing each card individually would be the next step.

in the nv control panel try power management mode as "perfer max performance"

also try another monitoring s/w like precision X and see if that reports the same issue

Leave the top PCI card in and remove the second card. Run heaven with AB running and monitoring the GPU usage. If all good, remove this card and place the second card in the top slot and again run heaven with AB monitoring GPU usage. If all good, swap down this card to the second slot and also run heaven again with AB monitoring the GPU usage.

This way you will at least know if either of the PCI-E slots are bad or either of the cards are bad. Also make sure your SLI bridge has a good connection.

Ive located the problem at last, it wasnt graphics related but a dodgy stick or corsair ive ran a few memtests on it all and located one bad stick out of the 4. Ive sent a cs request to ocuk as its only a couple of weeks old

Yes its taken a bit of time to track down but im sure once ocuk get on the case in the morning itl be sorted quickly fortunatley I went overkill on memory as it was cheap and got 2 sets of 16gb so I can still run the rig with plenty or ram

It was a last resort tbh, i was about out of all other ideas when I stuck memtest on a usb stick just to see if I could make the system crash outside of windows. When I got a screen full of red errors it didnt take long to work out which stick was the issue and get it boxed up
