Depends if you get it cheap, the 770 is same card rehashed and its current.

I had one as I game at 2304x1440p and though the 4GB would help up from the 580 1.5GB I had.
 
Yes defo, at 1080p it won't struggle with anything. I have 2 in SLI and plays everything i want with plenty of eye candy. The 2GB versions may struggle though in the future so not the best for future proofing and high res mons.
 
If I was in your position I personally wouldn't pay a penny over £150 for a decent one and I would stay clear of reference models. Nvidia GPUs haven't been raped in value anywhere near as much as AMD ones following the mining crash (because Nvidia cards were never as good for mining). As a result you can get a used Sapphire 280X 3GB Toxic for less than a new 270X and lesser 280X/7970 cards for even less.

Despite the scare stories about hardware used for mining it is simply silly to buy used Nvidia over used AMD right now as the price/performance parity is so misaligned.
