GTX 780, am I missing something?

I've had this card a few months now and it's doing much much better than I expected, people talk about it like it's an obsolete card or something, maybe my standards are low (no need for anything over 60fps) but it locks to 60 with v-sync on almost ultra settings even in demanding games.

Before I bought it, games like Pcars and GTA5 had me worried, yet it seems to monster both of them at 1920x1200 with everything very high/ultra except for AA, and even then I can run x2 or even x4 on some games.

Was it just scaremongering? Or is it just because I don't need anything more from it than 60fps? It doesn't even run flat out with V-sync on in GTA5 and it's not even overclocked

I was expecting this to be a short term card but it's blown me away, coming from a 980 I hardly notice any difference at all TBH.

It's a good card for 1080/1200. had mine for 3 years now and still don't feel the need to upgrade. Pascal may change that ;)

If you have one of the revision 2 cards with a half decent boost they do pretty well still - might have to turn the AA down a bit or use FXAA at 1440p in otherwise ultra setting in some games. Obviously they are coming towards the end of the road now though.

As I've been moaning about for awhile (and why they are talked down a lot) many of the review sites seem to have odd (lower than they should be) numbers for the 780.

Just keep the 780 mate. Is a great card and you can go light on AA and settings on games the use more than 3GB VRAM (XCOM 2, Star Citizen, etc)

The 780 is still a great card. You should be able to run less demanding games like Borderlands 2 at 4K with the details cranked. Until I got my Titan X almost a year ago, I was playing 4K games using a 780 Ti. There are two different versions of the card: one with 3 GB VRAM and one with 6 GB VRAM, and if you've got the latter, you're golden.

I had a 6GB 780 and it did absolutely everything I asked of it at 2560x1080 21:9. Great card. From memory it actually has a higher memory bandwidth than a 970/980 as well which really helps. If mine didn't die I'd still have it.
