Whats the AMD equivellent of a GTX780? I'm very tempted by one of the AOC freesync monitors but obviously need an AMD card for this.

Go 390P, its closer to a 780TI than a 780, Edit, forgot about the original Titan, the 390 is around there, perhaps a smidgen faster.

If you can find an R9 290 AIB version that would be of similar speed. Unfortunately the 290 is discontinued and the best alternative would be an R9 390 which are quite a bit more expensive.

That is actually quite a tricky one as there is quite a range of out the box boost clocks that they can sustain - an early one might only manage say 1006MHz boost (more like 290P territory) sustained while more recent ones might even be holding 1200MHz no hassle (gives a OC model 290X or stock GTX980 a good run) - which can give you a range from say 40 to 50 fps for ostensibly the same card in a benchmark.
