Just a quick question, but been offered an EVGA GTX 780 Ti SC ACX for £480 used for a month.

I want an upgrade from a 760 as it doesn't perform as well as I would like on 1440p, is it worth it or not? Buy or wait for maxwell? My thoughts with maxwell will be they will be much pricier than now?

Thanks

maxwell is ages away, worth upgrading now.

You can get a new one for a little bit more or a 780 for £360 - it depends if you want a little extra for the cash.

My personal route is 780, skip the ti, add a second 780 later on, see if Maxwell shows a massive improvement (unlikely) and decide from that point.

If you can afford a brand new 780Ti, get it. Some reference ones are going new for that price at the moment, while the good ones with 3 fan silent solution and Ghz factory overclock are around mid 500s.

In the mean time, I would advice you get a factory overclocked 780 to Ghz edition, (Gigabyte, EVGA, Zotac, PNY XLR8 OC etc) and enjoy a really awesome GPU at 30% the price of a Ti.

And here is a fresh review about the ability to the factory overclocked 780 Ghz edition, using the 334.89 drivers. Even beats the Sapphire TRiX R9 290X OC on BF4!!!!!

Id go for the GTX 780, and save some money personally. I'm running a GTX780 GB Winforce brought from this site, and loving it. Absolutely no slowdowns whatsoever in anything I throw at it.

If you're flush this month and feeling fruity get a Ti. If not get a 780, and then think about getting another for SLI would be my advice.

I went for 2 Ti's recently.
I've always gone for the second or third card down (eg 670 rather than 680 etc) but was feeling particularly reckless and thought I'd treat myself for once and buy the tip top :)

Thanks for the feedback guys :-)

I think you guys are right, going for a 780 is a better idea as no games I play will need the ti

I'd not be paying £480 second hand when were selling new cards at £499.99, sorry but for a second hard card I'd want some tangible saving of at least £100 on a £500 product.

Keen on paying that sort of money for only 90 days warranty...
Well that's 90 days warranty with OcUK, seen as Gigabyte do the warranty by the serial number i.e. manufacture date in terms of the 3 years they normally offer, would be interesting to know if Gigabyte will honor the full duration.

How do you find out what is left i wonder..all a bit vague.
Well... OcUK launched them for sale on 19th December 2013, I guess they were manufactured 1 month before, so well over 2 1/2 year warranty left with Gigabyte.

I bet they are cards that don't reach the overclock spec and crash, probally just need downclocking slightly, or maybe a few have squeeling caps?
