I just bought a new of the above card and am a bit concerned about the temps.

In the Unigine benchmark the temps hit 80 degrees. Also in games on full load.

I can use the Evga Precision software to set up a custom fan control that gets it down to the 70 - 75 range.

Is it worth using the software fan control, is there much cpu loss? Or should I not worry about the temps and just let the card do its thing?

Set it on a custom fan profile, this is mine in afterburner.

Still pretty quiet and keeps temps at 64c on stock speed, 70c when overclocked.

Try settlers custom fan profile if its still getting to 80c i would suggest its a airflow issue/faulty card.
Mines also on a custom profile and even o/ced to 1267core it never goes past 72c used to hit about 70c on the stock clocks and fan profile

Wouldnt be sure about airflow as ive ran mine in a bitfenix shinobi xl, a case that has virtually no air intake. Temps were about 2c higher than my new enthoo primo case.

Ah ty settler :) my 72c is with a ambient of 30c, lovely cooler
Then yes if he uses ur profile and hits 80c i'd be having a close look at the card itself

My Gigabyte 780 runs at a maximum of 73 in games at stock.

Try opening the side of the case, and see if that helps. If it does, it could be your case.

I think its the case, its one of the silent types not much ventilation. My cpu was getting hot as well. Its annoying none of the default setups push the fans high enough.

I've set it up the profile like this it seems to help.

Thanks everyone.

I had a silent style case once. It was quiet but everything got so hot. Try another case for sure. There is no way it should run so hot.
