GTX 780 Won't Display Correct Resolution

Somewhat frustrating problem here...

I have upgraded my old skool 9550gt graphics card to the tri fan GTX 780 that was on the black friday deal here. After numerous issues with upgrading my components so I could even run the card, I finally got it all up and running.

HOWEVER!

I can't seam to get the resolution right despite windows and nvidias control panel telling me it is correct. Windows no longer gives me a native resolution and nvidia is telling me 1920x1080 is native which is totally wrong... native resolution for my screen (Samsung SyncMaster 225mw) is 1680x1050.

No biggie, just select 1680x1050 on the options... nope, no luck there either. Though it's the clearest, the picture is still blurry.. doesn't fit on the screen and quality is more like scart than hdmi.

Anyone got any suggestions? Specs are...

Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 225mw
GPU: GTX 780
Connection: HDMI
O/S: Windows 10 64bit

Do you have a dvi cable to try, I am not sure how hdmi works with lower resolutions but I would try 1280x720 to see if that works, Also in the nvidia resolution settings uncheck the box that states to hide resolutions not supported.

I use dvi on my 780 with no problems.

Just tried a VGA cable through a DVI adapter and absolutly spot on, so I guess it's safe to assume it would work on a DVI cable without the adapter.

I am guessing HDMI simply doesn't work at all then on the GTX 780 at this resolution?

Have you tried creating a custom resolution in the nvidia panel ? otherwise just get a dvi cable:)

Tried that but it still doesn't fit the screen right, the text is still blurry and colors look washed out.

Still using DVI via a VGA adapter (haven't got round to getting a DVI cable yet) and all works perfectly.
