GTX 880

funny on kitguru it uses gibbo as a source not twst :D though to be fair Comments of Andrew Gibson reflect his personal expectations and are not official statements from Overclockers UK.

Maybe im getting confused but im sure about 2-3 months ago 8Pack said AMD already have something to counter nvidia? Is AMD going to bring out something as soon as nvidia release the 970/980? Not really heard anything.

It will be the R9 295x (R9 290x GTI, turbo, GHz+ edition)

It's not to say amd isn't competitive, it's that they need to be the ones setting the bar not matching it.

Absolutely, and AMD have certainly been capable of this in the past. For example the Ahtlon 64 at launch, 9700pro (I know that was technically ATi) and 4xxx/5xxx series GPUs.

I am not bashing AMD at all, I had an all AMD rig before my current one: 1090T + 5870CF, but it does seem a long time since they've been in the driving seat particularly on the CPU side. A show stealing product on the next go round would really shake things up, and ultimately would be better for everyone.

Nvidia 900 series cards all have 256bit bus?

Looking like the 680 all over again :(

No one really knows the situation yet, all we have is bits of information and rumours but not the full picture.

The new 900 series could have a 256bit bus but that does not mean it will work like the 256bit bus on a GK104 card. What I mean by this is if you look at the new R9 285 from AMD, it also has a 256bit bus but it works in an entirely new way using compression to boost performance by quite a bit compared to older cards that also have a 256bit bus.

The best thing to do is keep an open mind until the 900 series launches and then see how they actually performs in the reviews, it won't be long now.

Waiting for info to see where I go from here. thanks:)

I really hope these 980's are not a flop, 10% increase over a 780ti is not what I am looking for, Sli although appealing is not really what I want.

I think it could be a year till it's worth upgrading from my 780. :(

I've been running no GPUs for the past 3 months so I'll either upgrade to the new card (when it's released and if it's priced right) or if prices drop on some 780tis, i might go down that route.
