Picked up a palit gtx 970 today, got home pulled my evga gtx 670 out and put the 970 in and nothing!

The fan spins and it seems to get slightly warm but it wont send a signal to the monitor.

Pulled the 970 out and put the 670 back and everything worked perfectly.

Any suggestions? or is it return for refund?

Thanks

Stu

Motherboard Bio fully up to date?

Also make sure the graphics card is fully inserted, sometimes new cards require a little extra push to go in all the way.

Check your MOBO BIOS is the latest and make sure you are using the correct monitor lead. If it is getting hot, it sounds like it is working but just not displaying.

I am on a rampage extreme 4 using the last bios before it had to be converted to work with windows 8.

I see no reason to upgrade any further as i will never use windows 8

Deffo the correct lead, dual link dvi to my dell 30"

Card deffo installed correctly, tried it twice in one of the slots and again in a lower slot

Didnt say getting hot, its getting slightly warm

Any other suggestions welcome

Thanks

it wont hurt it to have latest bios, even if your not using win8

you don't know what they contain and might still be needed to support the 970,only way is to try and see

Happy to admit when wrong... it seems that the asus re4 mobo requires at least an ivybridge-e supported bios for the gtx 9XX series to work

Now updated and gtx 970 installed and working.

Thanks for the suggestions, saved me a drive back to overclockers for nothing.

Interesting, I don't have an IB-E compatible BIOS on my RIVE, and have two MSI GTX 970s running.

I have been getting some BF4 crashes and one of my cards has NMI'd twice though (Max temp seen 70C on top card). I'm going to update my BIOS and see if that improves things. (Corsair HX850 psu).
