I've started setting my parts for my first build. These are what I have so far. The next part I'm going to buy is the graphics card.

Is this a good card for what I need. The goal is to run Fallout 4 decently. Any help is appreciated. :)

Every man and his dog is going to suggest the 390 over a 970 due to it having a bit more poke and a little cheaper. However i dont blame you for going evga one of the best imo. The 390 will give you a bit more power forget the 8gb vram its a bit of a gimmick tbh however you might stumble over the 4gb mark now and then. Depends what else your doing with the machine. Any particular reason you have favoured nvidia at this price point?

Dont get me wrong im a nvidia fan (not crazy i own a 390 too) but the 390 does out perform it having owned both. However it is hotter and does draw more power so you need a decent psu (600watt+) and its not miles ahead but certainly 5% in most tittles and possibly 10% in some but it can swing thr other way in some tittles too.

A 970 will run fallout fine at 1080p you have not said what resolution your playing at?

Yes it's a cracking card-mines runs@1380MHz boost, 0db until 60c, even then on the stock fan profile chances are you won't hear it as the fan hardly spins up and it still runs within the power limit.
