So, in the next couple of weeks i should be ordering parts for my new gaming PC. I just had one question on weather there are any other cards in a similar price range (£200-£300) that i should have a look at first?

Oc UK 970 seems to be the best 970 (best I mean not a screaming one).

Or you can find some good offer on 780 780ti if you want to save something.

Are there any AMD cards that have a similar price but maybe better performance?

290 or 290x are the best they have at that price and perform nearly the same as the Nvidia 970

290 is probably the best for bang for buck. Best under £300 I'd say a discounted 780Ti if or when one shows up.

Can't really see beyond a 970 to be honest. 290/x are good cards and perform a little better at higher res. They also come with about £40/50 worth of games if you want to sell them. 970 pyp code is worth £20/25.
